What is a CEPA® Value Creation?

A CEPA® Value Creation Advisor works upstream of exits and transactions, guiding ownership teams to reduce dependency, strengthen operations, and increase enterprise value over time.

Rather than focusing on valuation or deal execution, the Value Creation Advisor focuses on how value is actually built inside an operating business. This includes:

  • How decisions are made and owned

  • Where responsibility and authority live

  • How reliant the business is on the owner

  • Whether operations are scalable and repeatable

  • How risk is distributed across people, systems, and processes

CEPA® Value Creation Advisors are trained in the Value Acceleration Methodology®, a proven framework designed to systematically increase transferable enterprise value. They operate within an advisory ecosystem, coordinating with financial, legal, tax, and personal advisors to ensure that business strategy aligns with an owner’s long-term goals, growth plans, and eventual exit.

The Value Acceleration Methodology

At the core of the CEPA® Value Creation Advisor role is the Value Acceleration Methodology®, a three-stage framework designed to align business, personal, and financial priorities while increasing enterprise value.

The methodology focuses on:

  1. Discovery
    Understanding the current state of the business, owner objectives, value drivers, and risk factors.

  2. Preparation
    Strengthening operations, leadership, and structure to improve value, reduce dependency, and increase optionality.

  3. Transition
    Supporting a successful outcome, whether that is continued ownership, succession, recapitalization, or exit.

Importantly, transition is not assumed. Many owners engage in value creation work without a defined exit timeline. The methodology supports optionality, not pressure.
